Project Alert with support from OSIWA is currently executing a second phase of its SGBV and women with disability project known as the LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY PROJECT in Cross River and Akwa-Ibom states. On Thursday July 15th, a one-day IEC development workshop to develop apt messages that would drive the legislative advocacy of both states was organized at Savoy Suite, Ikeja GRA. It was attended by representatives of various clusters of women with disability, media personnel and Project Alert’s partners in Cross River & Akwa-Ibom states.

The workshop which was in three parts, had Mrs. Oluyinka Adebayo-Shokunbi, a feminist, senior media practitioner, very vast in SGBV reportage, as facilitator. She took the participants through the first part of the workshop which set the tone for discussions on messages to be developed. The made a presentation on SGBV, Women with Disability & Key Issues for Public Information & Education. Thereafter the two other parts of the workshop focused on developing messages for the social media video, jingles, posters, t-shirts and face caps

Project Alert appreciates her partners on the project – FIDA Akwa-Ibom and Basic Rights Counsel Initiative Calabar for the tireless work they have been doing to ensure the disability and VAPP laws in both states are passed; signed by the governors and effectively implemented (as the case may be in the states). AKS has already passed the VAPP law and is at implementation stage.
