As part of the activities outlined for the “Legislative Advocacy on Gender-Based Violence & Women with Disability” supported by OSIWA, Project Alert’s Technical Committee members in Akwa Ibom State paid advocacy visits to the Deputy Speaker Akwa-Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Denis Akpan, representing Etinan Constituency; and the Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Ini Ememobong.

The advocacy visits were aimed at seeking their support to put pressure on the state governor to sign the Disability Law in the state. The law when signed, will promote and protect the rights of persons with disability, especially women and girls in the state. The stakeholders visited expressed their happiness to partner with Project Alert, an organization they said has had a track record in Gender-Based Violence, GBV advocacy and support services.
